This class aims to introduce students to the basics of acting, developing characters, text analysis, and becoming comfortable in front of an audience. Students will go through a variety of improvisational games to help them develop a sense of security on stage in front of a live audience. They will learn to create characters through monologue work. They will also present a scene at the end of session concert.
Students will learn in a fun, safe environment where they will be encouraged to get up on their feet, use their imaginations, create and play. They will not only learn how theatre works, but some of the added benefits of acting can be a boost in self-confidence, a loss of stage fright, improved memorization skills, and learning to work with others in a supportive, positive manner.
